Group of Michigan players form circle, lock arms during national anthem

A group of roughly 20 Michigan Wolverines locked arms and stood in a circle, heads down, during the playing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” prior to their prime-time kickoff with rival Michigan State on Saturday.

This weekend is the first time Michigan has been on the field for the playing of the national anthem since President Donald Trump’s Sept. 22 comments on a controversy that started last season in the NFL with Jim Harbaugh’s former San Francisco 49ers team and quarterback Colin Kaepernick kneeling during the anthem.

“A few of us talked about it,” senior linebacker Mike McCray said. “Just with the social injustice in the world and a few things that have happened with racism and things like that. We left we needed to show support.”

“After many discussions with [athletic director] Scott [Barnes], waiving my contract is the correct decision and enables the young men and the program to move forward and concentrate on the rest of this season,” Andersen said in a statement. “Coaching is not about the mighty dollar. It is about teaching and putting young men in a position to succeed on and off the field. Success comes when all parties involved are moving in the same direction.”

After two years as the coach at Wisconsin, where he went 19-7, Andersen made NFL Jerseys China the surprising jump to Oregon State before the 2015 season to replace Mike Riley. He inherited a team devoid of talent but seemingly had the program heading in the right direction coming into the season. The Beavers improved from 2-10 in his first season to 4-8 last year but are just 1-5 to this point with the Cheap Hockey Jerseys lone victory coming against FCS Portland State at home.

Eagles off and running thanks to not-so-secret weapon: Carson Wentz’s legs

Early in the first quarter against Washington, Michael Vick dodged two pass rushers, spun left, spun back right, wheeled left again, pulled out of an ankle tackle, flung a pass downfield just before getting hit, and connected with Nelson Agholor for a 58-yard Eagles touchdown..

And it wasn’t a fluke, an optical illusion, a trip to a parallel universe or a figment of everybody’s imagination. Nor was it a “deceptively athletic” play. It’s part of Wentz’s toolbox, it has been refined by a year in the NFL, and it’s what the Eagles spent the offseason and training camp developing and adding weapons to make the most of this season.

“Michael Bennett represents the best of the NFL — a leader on his team and in his community,” Goodell’s statement said. “We will support Michael and all NFL players in promoting mutual respect between law enforcement and the communities they loyally serve and fair and equal treatment under law.”

Bennett was detained in the early morning hours of Aug. 27 while fleeing from a Las Vegas casino amid reports of an active shooter. The 6-4, 274-pound defensive end claims police singled him out and pointed their guns at him “for doing nothing more than simply being a black man in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

He said a police officer in the area stopped him and ordered him to get on the ground, then put a gun to his head and explicitly threatened to shoot him if he moved. Bennett said a second Cheap Hockey Jerseys officer then “forcefully jammed his knee” into his back as they handcuffed him.

Bennett said he repeatedly asked officers what he had done and Cheap Goalie Jerseys Soccer they told him to shut up. They eventually released him after confirming his identity but “without any legitimate justification for the officers’ abusive conduct.”
